Paris, Tenn.–A Henry man is accused of pointing a gun at a Henry County Highway Department employee and was arrested by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
David Irby, age 61, of Radford Lake Road, is charged with aggravated assault. Bond was set at $10,000 and his first hearing is set for March 11.
According to the sheriff’s report, Irby was driving through a highway department work site on Manleyville Road when the incident occurred. Irby reportedly drove through the work site even after the road worker tried to stop him and the side view mirror on Irby’s vehicle struck the worker’s hand.
When Irby stopped his vehicle several feet from the work site, the worker went to his window to tell him about more work ahead on the road. According to the report, the worker saw Irby sitting in his vehicle with a gun in his hand.
The worker said Irby pointed the gun straight ahead (but not at him) and said, “Don’t get smart with me”.
The worker went to his truck and locked the doors. Irby then reportedly walked to his truck and tried to open the door, although he wasn’t still holding the gun.
