Henry County Medical Center has announced that Dr. Amanda Finley, Osteopath and Hospitalist – Internal Medicine, was recently certified in internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. With this accomplishment, Dr. Finley is now double board certified with her other certification from the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicinein 2014.
Board certification from ABIM is the highest standard in internal medicine and its subspecialties and signifies that physicians have demonstrated to their peers and to the public that they have the clinical judgment, skills and attitudes essential for providing excellent patient care.
Board certification is voluntary and includes a rigorous exam that tests a physician’s ability to diagnose and treat patients with a broad range of conditions. To maintain certification, physicians can participate in activities that assess knowledge of the latest scientific developments and changes in practice and in specialty areas.
Internists and subspecialists who earn and maintain board certification from ABIM differentiate themselves every day through their specialized knowledge and commitment to continual learning in service of their patients.
Dr. Finley is originally from McKenzie, and graduated from McKenzie High School. She studied biochemistry at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and attended medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Dr. Finley completed her residency at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.
In addition to her hospitalist role, Dr. Finley serves as HCMC’s Director of Medical Education and Designated Institutional Officer for our Medical Residency program. She has served as clinical faculty and Associate Professor of Medicine for WCUCOM, NSUCOM, UP-KYCOM, LMUDCOM, and ICOM since 2013 and was chosen as Preceptor of the Year in 2016. She is active in research and has two publications in the BMJ. Dr. Finley also received Preceptor of the Year by the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants (TPA) for her work with Bethel University’s PA program.
“This certification allows future HCMC Internal Medicine residents to have more testing options, so that they can also pursue board certification in both organizations as well,” said Dr. Finley.
Dr. Finley resides in Paris with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.
