
Paris, Tenn.—Retail sales tax revenue for the city of Paris has shown positive growth for the eighth month in a row.
At Thursday night’s Paris City Commission meeting, City Finance Director Traci Shannon said, “Our retail sales tax revenue for the month of November was up 8.37% compared to last November. This is our eighth month in a row of positive growth. We are also ahead 10.37% for the fiscal year.”
She also reported expenditures exceeded revenues in the General Fund for the month of December and we are also behind fiscal year-to-date. We had several large expenses during December which included $299,000 for the new fire truck, $29,000 for the firefighting gear, $24,000 for guardrails, $17,000 for tree trimming, and $51,000 for the new roof at the Atkins-Porter Rec Center. Also, the month of December was a three pay-period month which occurs twice yearly.
The city issued nine business licenses in December:
New business (5): The Caboose, Willoughby’s Plumbing, Dale Fair, Muddy Watters Designs, Parke Homesley Construction
New owner (2): McCartney Produce, NAPA Auto Parts
Add’l location (1): Mechanical Systems Company (HVAC Contractor)
Minimal license renewal (1): II Kings Fashions
