McKenzie, Tenn.–McKenzie High School girls and boys coach John Wilkins spoke last week at the McKenzie Rotary Club about his seniors for both teams and also the upcoming District and Region tournaments.
District games were schedule to be played last week, but the weather has caused some changes in the Region 6 Class A District 11 tournament. Normally the four teams that win the district would continue region play and the positions would be determined through a completed tournament.
District coaches decided that the number 1 and 2 teams from the regular season would advance and that the 3rd and 4th position will be decided on Monday night when McKenzie will play Clarksburg and Bruceton will play Big Sandy. The winner of Clarksburg/McKenzie will take 3rd and the winner of Bruceton Big Sandy will take 4th. Huntingdon and West Carroll took the 1st and 2nd place spots and will host the first round of the regional at their homecourt. The 3rd and 4th place teams will go on the road for regional action.
McKenzie and Huntingdon girls received byes in the first round of the tournament and will host the first round of the Region tournament on the 26 at McKenzie and Huntingdon.
