Paris, Tenn.–Last week’s winter storms wreaked havoc for many utilities across the south, and the Paris BPU Water System was no exception. The below freezing temperatures and movement of the ground, coupled with an aging infrastructure presented many challenges for the Paris BPU Water and Wastewater crews.
Over the course of the storm, the BPU system suffered roughly 20 water main breaks and several leaks. These issues resulted in Water and Wastewater staff putting in 277 hours of overtime between Thursday, February 11 and Sunday, February 21.
CEO Terry Wimberley said, “These men spent countless hours away from their families in dangerous conditions ensuring our customers continued to have reliable water service. Please join us in giving them an extra special thank you for all their hard work.”
