
Paris, Tenn.–At a meeting of the Paris Special Schools District board of education Tuesday evening, Director Dr. Norma Gerrell was granted a four-year contract extension.
The board approved the extension unanimously with the board set to meet with Dr. Gerrell on goals to be implemented that reflect the board’s vision for the district. Board President Troy Barrow said, “We all want the very best for the students”.
The contract is extended to June 30, 2025.
The meeting was held at Inman School and video presentations were given by the theatre students who presented a virtual play of their version of “Hamlet” and a virtual demonstration of a stop-motion video by Inman’s STEAM program. Teachers giving the presentations were STEAM Teacher Patrick Corbin and Theatre Teacher Emma Massey.
In other business:
–Supervisor of Literacy & Evaluation Sandra Paschall reported on the state’s approval of PSSD for the Reading 360 program. RadioNWTN reported on the program and what it meant for PSSD on March 10.
–The board approved the PSSD school calendar for 2021-2022. First day of School is August 2; last day of school May 20, 2022.
Days off for students include: Fall Break Oct. 11-15; Thanksgiving Break Nov. 24-26; Christmas Break Dec. 20 to Jan. 4; Spring Break March 28-April 1.
