Union City, Tenn.–Every team that took the diamond wearing purple and gold Tuesday was a winner.
Both the Union City High School and Middle School baseball teams swept doubleheaders from visiting Dresden, while the Lady Tornado softball team also came out victorious against visiting Bradford.
The UCHS tennis teams also were winners at Westview, while the middle school soccer squad recorded its first triumph of the season over Obion County.
The Union City High School soccer team dropped its opener at Obion County Central.
The following is a recap of all those contests played on Tuesday:

Landon Hauhe’s two-run single in the first was all the support senior southpaw Dalton Bone needed in the Tornadoes’ season-opening first game.
Bone went the distance with six strikeouts and just two hits allowed while throwing 79 pitches. His teammates played error-free defense behind him and Dresden managed just four baserunners.
Gunnar Cheatham singled, doubled and scored a run for the Tornadoes, and both Gannon Searcy and Mason Reed scored.
In the nightcap, Caleb Garland’s bases-clearing double highlighted a five-run third and propelled the Twisters to a second victory.
Garland went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs in all. Both Searcy and Mason Reed collected two singles each. Silas Petty scored twice in a courtesy runner role.
Reed went all the way on the hill for the pitching victory, backed by flawless defense that included a double play and two Lion runners erased on the bases.
