Paris Driver Arrested For Possession Of Narcotics

Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man was arrested for possession of narcotics after a traffic stop by the Metro Crime Unit Tuesday.

Austin Page, age 27, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture and sell and possession of drug paraphernalia after the car he was driving was found to contain heroin, syringes, a glass pipe and spoon with narcotics residue on it.

According to a press release issued by the Paris, Police, on March the 16th Investigator Derrek Colley with the Metro Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop on Mineral Wells Avenue for a violation of the seat belt law.  During the course of the stop, it was determined that one of the passengers, Dana Holderfield, had warrants out of Benton County.

While confirming the status of the warrant, Investigator Colley contacted Sgt Jamie James and his K9 Drago to come and do a sniff of the vehicle for narcotics.

The K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle and a subsequent search was conducted.  During the search, a case containing a white powder substance believed to be heroin was found near the driver seat, as well as paraphernalia used to consume narcotics such as syringes, glass pipe, and a spoon with narcotics residue on it were found.

According to the press release, The field weight of the narcotics was over 7 grams with an estimated street value of over $2000 dollars.
