Shiloh, Tenn.–A body was recovered Saturday from the Tennessee River by the Hardin County Fire Department’s dive team. According to the Hardin County Fire Department, the vehicle and body were recovered near Hagy’s Restaurant in Shiloh.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation into the accident, in which it appears the driver drove into the river intentionally on Friday.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that it appeared the driver drove into the river deliberately and that he waved to people in the parking lot at Hagy’s Catfish Hotel in Shiloh as he drove past.

The family of the deceased has been notified but has not be released.

River conditions hampered the rescue efforts. The Tennessee River currently is in flood stage and is running swiftly.
