Union City, Tenn.–Ben McMillan will lace ’em up at least one more time representing Union City High School.

The sharpshooting Tornado guard has been selected to play in the BCAT (Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee) Boys All-Star Game on Saturday at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro.

McMillan, who scored more than 1,800 points in his decorated UCHS career, will be part of a team of West Tennessee standouts. Rosters for four teams in all were selected — one each representing West, Middle and East Tennessee, and another chosen from deserving players from Memphis.

He will be joined on the West squad by such notables as Brandon Macklin and Jailen Anderson of Class 2A state runner-up Jackson South Side and Walter Peggs and Christian Ballard of Madison Academic.

South Side’s Damon Fuller will coach the West team.

Each squad will play two games as there will be a semifinal round and a championship game. A consolation contest will also be held, assuring each player of at least two contests.

The two boys’ semifinals will match the East team vs. Memphis and West against Middle — both games to start at 12:30 p.m.

The championship and consolation games will be played at 3:30.

The games will be open to all college coaches to evaluate players who are unsigned. The games will be open to the public, too, with admission being $10. Social distancing will be practiced.

McMillan averaged 16.8 points-per-game during his senior campaign for the Purple and Gold, leading the Tornadoes to their second straight Class A sectional appearance. He shot 36.3 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and 88.4 percent from the free throw line, where he missed just 14 times in 121 attempts during the season.

The 6-foot guard scored in double figures in 25 of 29 games in which he played, including the last 14 in a row. He tallied 20 or more points in a game 12 times, including a career-high 35 in a spectacular performance when Union City beat Triple-A Collierville.

He was named All-District and All-Region and additionally named as The Messenger’s Obion County Prep Player of the Year.
