Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway is allowing the county’s masking mandate to expire at 11:59 PM on Saturday March 27, 2021.

Mayor Ridgeway said, “ I am pleased the progress Henry County has made in the last several weeks resulting in the lowest COVID-19 transmission rates since July 2020.  This does not mean that we can completely return to our previous normal ways.  We should continue to wear a mask when in large indoor groups and continue to practice social distancing as well as washing our hands to limit the spread of COVID-19. If we should see a rise in cases, then we will reevaluate to keep our community safe.”

The Tennessee Dept of Health reported the county’s seven day average on Wednesday at 2.43 positive daily cases.

Henry County Medical Center has reported for the past several weeks zero positive inpatients being treated.

Henry County Medical Center and the Henry County Health Dept continue to provide  COVID-19 vaccinations to our community now for anyone 18 years and older.  Henry County continues to be one of the top five counties in the state for number of vaccines administered.  Ridgeway said this could not have been accomplished without the dedication and hard work of our local healthcare professionals.

Henry County Medical Center is dispensing vaccines at their Plumley Rehab Center on Hospital Circle as vaccine becomes available.  The Health Department is dispensing vaccines at the Henry County Fairgrounds two days a week.

Persons wishing to receive a vaccine through HCMC are asked to watch for media releases for scheduled days.  To schedule an appointment with the Health Dept through the State Dept of Health, schedule either online at www.covid19.tn.gov or by calling 866-442-5301.

Mayor Ridgeway said, “As we approach spring and are ready to enjoy outdoor activities, it is not the time to dismiss current COVID-19 protocols.  I encourage our community to continue to wear masks when out in public settings. The threat of new variants of COVID-19 are now in Tennessee therefore it is not time to completely let our guard down.”

Local businesses, schools, government facilities, and industry may continue to require masks if they wish for the protection of employees and the public.  Persons entering the Henry County Courthouse or Annex to conduct court related business will continue to be required to wear a mask.
