Good Samaritans Caught In Middle Of Disturbance, Paris Man Charged

Paris, Tenn.–Two Good Samaritans became involved in a disturbance Sunday evening and a Paris man is being held in the Henry County Jail on $50,000 bond following the incident. Charges also are pending against two juveniles.
Brandyn Carper, 39, of 195 Trading Post Rd. has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Vandalism.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office press release, on Sunday April 25,2021 at 8:45 p.m., the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a possible assault at the intersection of Highway 54 and Trading Post Road.
An investigation found that a teenage male and female stopped to help what they thought were two stranded motorists. The teenage male assisted in pushing a disabled vehicle out of the roadway.
During this time a third party, who has been identified as Brandyn Carper, arrived on the scene. According to the press release, Carper grabbed the male teenager by the throat and held a gun to his head. After releasing the teenager, Carper shot into the unoccupied disabled vehicle. The teenagers were able to leave the scene without being injured.
The investigation found that the stranded motorists and persons at nearby Carper’s residence had been in a physical altercation. The two teenagers innocently became involved in the disturbance when they stopped to help.
Carper is being held on a $50,000 bond pending arraignment in Henry County General Session Court.
Two juveniles have been charged with Aggravated Assault in relation to the original disturbance. Their charges are pending in Henry County Juvenile Court.
