
Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey has announced changes in the operation of the Sheriff’s Animal Shelter. announcing some changes in reference to the Henry County Sheriff‘s Office Animal Shelter.
Long-time Deputy John McElroy is now the Henry County Sheriff‘s Office Animal Control Officer.
Frey said Deputy McElroy’s duties will be to oversee the animal shelter on a daily basis and to respond to dog calls. “The purpose of this transition is to have an officer fully designated to animal control issues. This transition will also allow patrol officers to remain focused on patrol aspects. In the past, patrol officers were taken out of service for significant lengths of time while handling dog call,” Frey said. “Deputy McElroy will also assist in the investigations of livestock abuse.”
The Henry County Sheriff‘s Office Animal Shelter will continue to be open Monday through Friday from 8 am until 3:30 pm. If a citizen arrives at the shelter and the gates are closed, Deputy McElroy may be handling a dog call. If this is the case, Please contact the Henry County Sheriff‘s Office at 642–1672 to schedule a time to meet Deputy McElroy.
Frey said, “The Henry County Sheriff‘s Office will continue to update the citizens as it strives to serve the growing needs of Henry County as it relates to dog calls and the animal shelter while maintaining a high level of patrol response and proactive law enforcement.”
