Union City, Tenn.–Marcos Landeros scored three times and Drake Chism added a pair of goals to help Union City blank Henry County 6-0 in middle school soccer Monday.
The shutout victory helped the Tornadoes (4-5-1) celebrate 8th Grade Night in impressive fashion.
Gavin Morgan’s penalty kick accounted for UC’s other score, while Nolan Tucker recorded the shutout in goal.
Head coach Lance Morgan singled out several players in the triumph, including Natalie Soto, Rori Howell, Carter Wilson, Rushdon Howell, Eric Lopez, Jordan Lofton, Amir Peat, Beck Tanner and Jose Valencia.
In all, nine 8th graders were honored in ceremonies.
Union City closes out its 2021 season Thursday with a trip to Dyersburg for a 5:30 p.m. match.

Union City closed out its regular season with a tough road trip to Paducah.
The Tornado boys did win three matches against MC. Ben Wade claimed an 8-3 singles triumph and then teamed with Landon McAdams to pull out a hard-fought 8-6 verdict in doubles.
Kobe Kirk was also a winner in singles play, 8-7.
Davey Frankum’s tie-breaker loss (7-3) was UC’s closest match in girls’ play.
The Tornadoes will compete in tournament play this weekend in Jackson.
