2021 Irish Celebration Underway In Erin

Erin, Tenn.–It may have been delayed this year due to the COVID pandemic, but the annual Irish Celebration in Erin is now underway with the theme, “Houston County’s 150th Birthday”.

At the kick-off event Friday, Bonnie Dunavant was named the 2021 Lord High Mayor and she will reign over the festivities. Receiving the 2021 O.S. Luton Emerald Award were Brenda Sugg, Kristi Dew, Denise Borens, Nanette Morford, and Billy Joe Coakley.

Activities are ongoing all this week, with highlights being the Grand Parade at 11 a.m. Friday, preceded by the Leprechaun Parade at 10:45 a.m. The Carnival begins Tuesday, May 4 and goes through Saturday, May 8. On Wednesday, the Irish Potato Bar will be held at 11 at Signature Health Care.

There will be over 50 vendors of arts and crafts and the US Army County Band from Fort Campbell will be performing all week.
