
There will be several Memorial Day services and events in our area, with activities scheduled in Paris, McKenzie, Huntingdon, Union City and Samburg.
City Of McKenzie
The City of McKenzie will host its annual Memorial Day event at Veterans Park in downtown McKenzie on Monday, May 31 at 10 a.m. with featured speaker Sergeant Major Spiros Roditis of the U.S. Army.
Mayor Jill Hollan will lead the ceremony which will be concluded by the laying of the wreath by Dana Deem and Billy Kirkindoll at the War Memorial.
Henry County Memorial Day Service
A Memorial Day Program will be held at 8 a.m. Monday, May 31, at the Henry County Court House.
Major Susie Parker of the Tennessee National Guard well be the Guest Speaker. Edith Gardner will sing patriotic music. The Tennessee State Guard, along with Andrew Paschall of Puryear and his horse-drawn carriage, will be conducting a mock military funeral service.

Carroll County American Legion Annual Memorial Day Flags
All veterans and community members are urged to assist in the annual placing of small flags at the graves of veterans in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie. The American Legion Post 37 supplies the flags. The event begins at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 30.
Liberty All UMC Memorial Day Program
The Liberty All United Methodist Church hosts its annual Memorial Day Program Sunday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor and U.S. Air Force Veteran Phil Williams will speak at the program. All veterans present will be recognized and all 74 names of the veterans buried at Liberty All will be read and have a flag placed on each grave. The Liberty All United Methodist Church is located at 2415 Old Stage Road, Huntingdon, Tenn.
Discovery Park of America Memorial Day Concert
Want a fun way to kick off your Memorial Day weekend? Visit Discovery Park of America Saturday, May 29, for a sunset concert. Join Electric Gumbo and Hinson Hill at the Train Depot Stage for family-friendly fun including fishing, food trucks, live music and a cash bar.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and live music begins at 7 p.m. Admission is a donation to Special Ops Xcursions, a nonprofit that offers guided outdoor adventures to active duty Special Operations Forces (SOF) service members.
Samburg’s Fire on the Water
Samburg’s Fire on the Water Memorial Day Celebration will be held Saturday evening, May 29 at Spicer Park on the lake in downtown Samburg.
Patriotic music starts at 7 p.m., food and drink available. Fireworks at 9 p.m.
