Wheat said the money raised from the Cheeseburger at Breakers stays in Henry County to ensure the continuance of those needed prevention and trauma-based services.” “We hope to have a big turnout from the community in supporting a great cause as we have had in the past few years. It’s all for the kids, so come out and enjoy the atmosphere all for a great cause!”
The mission of the Carl Perkins Center is to provide support to families in preventing and dealing with child abuse in West Tennessee and to help both parents and children meet the practical needs of preserving and improving the quality of family life. The Center’s goals are two-fold. We provide services to strengthen families to prevent abuse and provide services to put families back together and save the lives of children. The overall objective is to break the cycle of abuse now and for future generations thus treating the cause rather than just the symptoms of the problem. They collaborate with many agencies in our community to provide these services including the The Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Paris Police Department, Juvenile Court, and Department of Children’s Services. The Center offers services such as: victim advocacy, forensic interviews, evidence-based parenting programs, relative caregiver services, Stewards of Children (national sexual abuse prevention training), 24-hour crisis hotline, community awareness/outreach programs, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
