
This morning around 3:00 a.m., Dyersburg police responded to Greentree Apartments in reference to a possible auto burglary in progress. Officers arrived and discovered two men, identified as Marcus Parr, 27, Dyersburg and Dekotta Stover, 22, Dyersburg, standing by a vehicle. As officers approached the two men started to walk away. An officer observed a handgun and other items laying under the front bumper of the vehicle. Both men were detained, and while searching them Parr was found to be in possession of a firearm. Stover was found to be wearing a dark ski mask on the top of his head.
Officers retrieved the other items found under the car which included suspected methamphetamine and a set of scales. Officers also discovered that the firearm found under the car was reported stolen out of Dyer County. Both weapons and suspected drugs were seized, and both men were charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of schedule II with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft of property under $1,000.00. Stover had an additional charge of being a felon in possession of firearm.
Both men were jailed pending Dyersburg City Court action today at 4:00 p.m.
