Dresden, TN- Weakley County has announced the awarding of the Medal of Valor to Dresden Deputy Fire Chief Kory Green for his tireless efforts during dangerous storms on May 4th.
Weakley County Mayor Jake Bynum said of Chief Green’s actions:
“Despite great risk to himself, the timely and decisive action of Deputy Fire Chief Green provided an avenue of recovery to the hardest hit area of the storm. It is chiefly because of these actions that the danger to responders and residents was significantly mitigated, ongoing recovery was made possible, and lives and property were saved from further harm.
Deputy Fire Chief Kory Green’s actions reflect great credit upon himself and the Dresden Fire Department. As such, it is with great gratitude that we award Deputy Fire Chief Green with the Weakley County Medal of Valor.”
Deputy Fire Chief Green is a 20 year veteran of the Dresden Fire Department, having begun his career 20 years ago as a junior firefighter and also works as the training captain for the Martin Fire Department.
It marked the first awarding of the Weakley County Medal of Valor since Dispatcher Kim Healy won the medal 5 years ago for her work with a house fire.
