Area Media Mogul Dennis Richardson Passes Away

Camden, Tenn.–Long-time area media mogul Dennis Richardson passed away suddenly Monday. Funeral arrangements at Plunk Funeral Home in Camden have not yet been announced.

Richardson was owner of numerous area newspapers, magazines and radio stations. He was CEO of Magic Valley Publishing and was owner of the Camden Chronicle, Carroll County News-Leader, Dresden Enterprise, Lake County Banner, Crockett Co. Times, Waverly News-Democrat, and Memphis area newspapers in Bartlett and Millington. He owned Camden Radio Station WRJB/WFWL and the Discover West Tennessee magazine.

Bobby Melton of WRJB/WFWL said Richardson “will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful friend who loved this community and its people.” Melton said Richardson was a journalist “who interviewed hundreds of newsmakers in a career that spanned over five decades.”

Former Benton County Mayor Brett Lashlee said, “Our county has lost an icon of the community in Dennis Richardson and my deepest condolences to his family in this great loss. Benton County sends our deepest condolences and prayers to the Richardson Family. Our county has lost a great citizen.”
