Union City, Tenn.–The clock is ticking for the beginning of the 2021-22 school year for Union City students.
Registration for all returning UC School System students on each of the three campuses is set for Thursday, Aug. 5.
Any prospective student who did not attend Union City Schools last year may register early on Wednesday or Thursday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. A parent must accompany students. Those new students can also register on Aug. 5, also with a parent.
The first day of classes for all Union City School System students is Aug. 9.
The following is a breakdown of registration times for respective classes.
UCES
Students in kindergarten, 2nd grade and 4th grade may register with their parents from 8-11:30 a.m.
Those students who’ll be part of 1st and 3rd-grade classes will register (with parents) from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
A pair of Meet-Your-Teacher Nights have been scheduled for later in August.
Parents of students in kindergarten, 2nd grade and 4th grade can meet with their child’s teacher on Aug. 17 from 6-7 p.m. Those students in 1st and 3rd grade can have in-person introductions between their parents and teacher on Aug. 19 from 6-7 p.m.
UCMS
Fifth graders will be the first to register, doing so from 8-9:30 a.m. Sixth graders will register from 9:30-11 a.m., and the seventh-grade class will sign-up from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Eighth-grade students will register from 1-2:30 p.m.
Before registration, an Open House for 5th graders and their parents will be held on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Parents will follow their child’s daily class schedule from 5:30-6:45, with a meeting to follow in the cafeteria to discuss other policies and procedures at UCMS.
A similar Open House for students in grades 6-8 and their parents will be held at a later date.
UCHS
Freshmen will assemble in the Civic Auditorium at 8 a.m. and go through an abbreviated day’s schedule with dismissal at 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
Sophomores will meet with Principal Jacob Cross from 8-9 a.m. in the school gymnasium. Juniors will gather there from 8:30-9:30, and seniors will meet with Cross from 9-10 a.m. in the gym.
All school rules will apply, including dress code. Students who do not attend at their designated time will be counted absent. No parental attendance will be allowed.
