Martin, Tenn.–Martin Police are investigating the shooting of a five-year-old Monday evening.
Police Chief Don Teal said officers responded to 240 Oakland Street at 6 p.m. on a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they found a five-year-old child bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers rendered aid until the Martin EMS arrived. The child was transported by ambulance to an Air Evac base and from there was airlifted to LeBonheur Hospital in Memphis.
Teal said the child’s medical condition is unknown at this time and the incident is under investigation.
