Murray, Ky.–The Calloway County Health Department has announced the county is now in the COVID Red Zone, meaning it has a high community transmission of the virus.
As of Monday, August 2, the Health Department received notification of 58 new cases. 52 of those were unvaccinated individuals, they said.
The new cases includes one death which was reported July 30. Health officials said no details will be provided on the death due to privacy and they wish to express their deepest sympathies and condolences for the family.
In their latest press release, the Health Department said of the 58 new cases, there were 24 on July 31; 16 on August 1 and 18 on August 2.
The Health Department makes the following recommendations in accordance with the Department for Public Health: 1) get vaccinated, 2) wear a mask, 3) practice social distancing, 4) avoid social activities with unvaccinated persons, especially if you are medically vulnerable, and 5) postpone large public events.
