McKenzie, Tenn.–A house and pole barn were destroyed following a rekindled fire overnight in McKenzie. The fire began as a grass fire near the house but rapidly upgraded to a structure fire.
McKenzie Fire & Rescue Chief Brian Tucker told RadioNWTN this morning that the owner came home to his resident at 17885 Highland Drive around 9:30 p.m. to find the grass on fire.
The fire quickly spread to the house and when fire units arrived, they found the house heavily involved in flames.
Firefighters were called back to the residence at 2:40 a.m. and found that the house was fully involved and had collapsed. An adjacent pole barn also was on fire and also collapsed.
Tucker said there were no injuries.
Mutual aid was provided by the Carroll County and Gleason Fire Departments.
