West Tennessee Health Care Sets Up Mobile Triage Unit To Handle Patient Influx

Jackson, Tenn.–West Tennessee Health Care is now setting up a mobile triage unit in the parking lot of the hospital to handle the number of patients coming to the Emergency Room, according to Jackson Mayor Scott Conger.

At a briefing today at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital, hospital officials also announced they are restricting visitors.

As they have at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, the numbers of active COVID cases have increased dramatically in recent weeks.

At Jackson-Madison County Hospital, the numbers are:

Total COVID patients at hospital 90 (one month ago, 7)

Total COVID patients in ICU 26 (3 one month ago)

Total COVID patients on ventilators 15 (2 one month ago).

The following is the statement by hospital officials today:
“In response to rising numbers of COVID-19 patients in our hospitals and in our continued efforts to prevent the spread of illness of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), effective Thursday, August 5, we are limiting visitors at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The policy will be as follows:
– One visitor per patient per day is allowed.
– Visitors must be age 15 or older.
– One visitor may stay overnight except in ICU.
– COVID-19 patients may NOT have visitors; however, virtual visitation services may be available.
Visitation hours are:
Monday – Friday 5am – 8pm
Saturday and Sunday from 7am – 8pm.”
