Paris, Tenn.–Four 100-year-old family farms were honored at Tuesday’s annual Century Farms picnic at the Henry County Fair. The four are the latest to be added to the Tennessee Century Farms program and they will be added to the permanent display in the Commercial Building at the Fairgrounds.

The latest farms to be added are: Lee Farm owned by Glenn and Pam Lee; Walter Perkins farm, owned by Minnie Lou Perkins; G.C. “Pop” Salmon Farm, owned by John and Kay Salmon; and the Pleasant Allen Lax farm owned by Charlotte Lax Jackson.

Fair officials and other local Century Farm members enjoyed a catered meal before being presented gift baskets of Henry County goodies.

County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway spoke of the years he had spent in the past painting poles in the fair building getting ready to open the fair.  Ridgeway’s mother, Mary Kate Ridgeway, served as county extension agent until her retirement a few years ago.
