Paris, Tenn.–From small plants grow big beautiful tomato plants and no one knows that better than Drew Shepherd.
Drew won Best In Show in the Youth category at the Henry County Fair with a tomato plant that he received from Homestead Gardens and Gifts of Buchanan earlier this year.
Homestead provided tomato plants free for each second and third grade student in the Paris Special Schools District in May, along with information packets on how to replant the tomato plants and help them thrive. Fair spokesperson Michelle Hopkins said some 325 students received the free plants from Homestead.
Drew must have really studied the tips in the information packet he received because his plant has certainly thrived. And he has become so fond of it he named it “Jeffrey”.
