Paris Lioness Club Disbands After 40 Years

Paris, Tenn.–It was a bittersweet gathering for the ladies of the Paris Lioness Club, which is disbanding after over 40 years.

The group met for a final time last week at a gathering at the home of long-time member Cyd Travillian to celebrate the end of an era and the years of service the Lioness group has given to the community.

The disbanding of the club as a “Lioness Club” was mandated by the Lions International in order to make the Lions Club more inclusive. The Lioness Club was established as an auxiliary to the Lions Club, but now its members will be folded into the Lions Club.

In the course of its history, the Paris Lioness Club has helped with the Lions Club Sight Van exams for children at the beginning of the school year, held fund-raising events for Lions Club projects, collected glasses for recycling, provided glasses for children who otherwise might not have received them, provided scholarships for Henry County High School and TCAT students. The Lioness Club also helped the Lions with their annual Chili Day and conducted the Annual Lioness Luncheon each fall.
