Paris, Tenn.– Class 5A TSSAA champion from last year, Summit High School, spoiled the Henry County Patriots’ opening game on their new turf Friday night 50 to 13.  Summit’s Kentucky-committed Quarterback Destin Wade put on a show. He ran a 98-yard touchdown to highlight the night. He ran for three other touchdowns in the season opener for both teams. Summit moved from 5a up to 6a classification this year.

To begin the game on the new turf, the Marching Patriots played the Battle Hymn Chorale, followed by the Madrigals singing the National Anthem.
Henry County High Schools opening game on their new turf looked hopeful in the beginning as the Patriots scored first with Ryan Damron completing a pass to Javion Boyd for a 32 yard touchdown score to take a lead at the 6:54 mark of the first quarter 6-0.
But Destin Wade started his role one minute and a half later racing 75 yards for the first of the four touchdowns he would have in the contest including two more of 80 yards 1 yard and 98 yards coming in the third quarter.  Summit would amass a total offense of 434 yards to Henry County’s 200.
Wade would pass only 5 times in the game with three completions but would pound the ground for 405 yards rushing to Henry Counties 110.  Summitt took the lead at the 5:28 mark of the first quarter completing their two point conversion and didn’t look back leading at the end of the first 29-6, halftime 36-6, 43-13 at the end of the third and 50 to 13 for the final score.
Caden Marshall would complete a 42 yeard touchdown catch and run to Javion Boyd for Henry Counties final score in the fourth quarter.  The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Patriots as they will play Beech High School next Friday night.
