
Union City, Tenn.–At a busy Union City City Council meeting Tuesday evening, Council passed on second and final reading the new RV and Trailer Parking Ordinance for the city.
The ordinance prohibits the parking of RVs and trailers on the street, except when owners are loading or getting ready for a trip.
Council also passed an ordinance prohibiting the operation of low and medium speed vehicles, such as golf carts, on the following streets: Reelfoot Avenue, East Main, West Main, Nailling Drive, Section Line Road, Miles Avenue, Cheatham Street, Pleasant Valley Avenue and Old Troy Road.
All other city streets are covered by state law.
In other business:
Council passed an ordinance eliminating the City Beautiful Commission. The work of that commission will now be handled by Master Gardeners working with Parks and Recreation.
An Operational Excellence Award was presented to the A. L. Strub waste water plant. The award is presented by the Clean Water Professionals of KY & TN and is for continued outstanding operation of the waste water plant.
