Union City, Tenn.–Union City cross country competed in the Crossing Paths Invitational at Cordova over the weekend.
Cedrion Cook placed second in the 42-runner boys’ field with a time of 18:07. Cole Suiter posted a Top 25 finish at 20:54.
Rounding out the Tornado finishers were Cameron McLendon (26:07), Brendan Meade (28.23), Samuel Rodriguez (29:29), and Kajaylon Bell (30:01).
There was mass confusion in the girls’ race as several participants in the lead pack took a wrong route on the course when the lead vehicle ventured far ahead of the field.
UC’s top finishers (Kennedi Robinson and Bailey Wagoner) were among that group near the lead, but did not technically complete the race – though of no fault of their own.
The Lady Tornadoes were officially led by Adeline Rice (28:51), Daisy Sanchez (29:21), Lennon Bing (34:09) and Myranda Parr (34:20).
No medals or trophies were given in the event.
Union City did compete as a team in new uniforms, provided by an anonymous donor.
Next up for the Tornado squad is the Union City Invitational, Sept. 30.
