
Martin, Tenn.–Hillcrest High School in Memphis is facing $750 in fines after its boys basketball team left the court in the first half of its game against Obion County during the Martin Lions Club Christmas Tournament December 30 at Westview in Martin.
The school was fined $250 for Coach Chris Adams being ejected and fined $500 because Adams pulled his team off the court.
According to the TSSAA referee report, Adams was described as being ‘very vocal about the foul count’ and continued being ‘not happy’ with referee’s explanations of the fouls. According to the report, he displayed his displeasure ‘in the middle of the floor’.
During the game Adams and one of his players, Nick Brooks, received technical fouls, afterwhich Adams was seen directing his team to leave the court.
According to the Jackson Sun, along with Adams, Hillcrest players AJ Williams, Jaylon Judd and the aforementioned Brooks were ejected and will be unable to participate in the team’s next two games.
