UT Martin’s JayleAna Wyatt Named OVC Indoor Track and Field Female Freshman Athlete of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin athlete JayleAna Wyatt has been named Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Female Freshman Athlete of the Week after a strong season opening performance at the Redhawks Invite last weekend.

A native of Jackson, Tenn., Wyatt posted an impressive showing in her collegiate debut at the Redhawks Invite by with a pair of personal-records and individual wins in both the 55m dash and 200m dash.

Wyatt began her career by finishing fourth in the preliminary round of the 55m dash before coming back in the finals to best her previous mark by .11 seconds and win the event with a time of 7.27 seconds – ranking as the fastest 55m time in the OVC this season. She then came back in the 200m dash to post her second first place finish of the day with a time of 26.82 seconds.

The Skyhawks will return to action this weekend by competing at the Bellarmine Open held at Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Ky. on Friday, Jan. 21.
