The number of active COVID-19 cases in our area has reached record-breaking levels.
Obion and Dyer Counties are reporting the highest number of active cases right now, with 1,298 in Obion Co. and 1,468 in Dyer County.
Carroll County is at 863, with Weakley reporting 833; Henry County reporting 578; Benton County at 321; Stewart County at 249 and Gibson County at 218.
This comes as area hospitals are reporting much higher than normal patient numbers with the Omicron variant.
As we reported in early January, Tennessee Health Department officials are no longer providing daily COVID-19 data releases.
The Tennessee Department of Health is now releasing weekly updates each Wednesday. The data will include the previous Sunday through Saturday period.
Don’t forget that you can receive COVID-19 vaccines or tests at the area County Health Departments.
