
Weakley County, Tenn.–A Hickman County woman who has been missing since December 12 was found deceased Monday in Weakley County.
Virginia Emerson, age 73, last made contact with her family December 12. She was reported to have dementia and it was not believed that her disappearance was related to the tornado that moved through the area December 10.
Just before 6 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022, Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1 was notified by Weakley County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office that they had located human remains inside a vehicle in their jurisdiction. The vehicle was determined to be the 2014 black Ford Fusion belonging to Virginia Emerson, who had been reported missing to KSP Post 1 on December 12, 2021.
An autopsy on the remains found in the vehicle was conducted by the Tennessee State Medical Examiner’s office in Nashville, Tennessee. The remains were identified as Virginia Emerson. The investigation into her death is ongoing by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office.
