
Martin, Tenn.–Two people were arrested after their car drove into the Martin Motors business Wednesday evening.
According to Assistant Martin Police Chief Phillip Fuqua, officers were called to Martin Motors around 6:30 p.m. Martin Motors is located at 8498 Hwy 45.
Upon arrival, Patrol Officer Demarchio Lee observed that a 2006 Buick sedan was lodged into a roll-up door on the side of the business. Officer Lee made contact with a male subject and a female subject in the parking lot on the east side of the parking lot.
Fuqua said, “The female suspect followed verbal commands to get on the ground, but the male suspect attempted to hide behind a parked car. Shortly after this, the male suspect attempted to flee the scene on foot. A foot chase ensued during which Officer Lee fired a Taser at the suspect. Following this, Officer Lee and Patrol Officer Aaron Carter took the male suspect into custody.”
Meanwhile, Lt. John Cross and Patrol Officer John Fulcher took the female into custody without incident. Video footage was collected that showed the entire incident.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the two subjects were also suspected of being involved in a burglary that occurred near Sharon. The suspects were transported to Weakley County Detention Center.
Currently, the female suspect, Stephanie Lynn Williams, age 41 of Medina has been charged by M.P.D. with public intoxication. The male suspect, Alexander Ross Dean, age 38 of Humboldt has been charged by M.P.D. with evading arrest, vandalism (over $1000), burglary, financial responsibility, reckless endangerment and D.U.I.
Further charges are pending an investigation by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Dept. in regards to the incident near Sharon.
