Beta Club requirements at Union City High School include maintaining a 93 average in all classes (traditional students) and an 89 average for magnet school students. Any grade of ‘D’ or ‘F’ results in immediate expulsion.
A new requirement implemented this year also requires students to maintain at least five community service hours per year to remain active. The rule was instituted to encourage and promote community services within the club.
The Beta Club’s national mission statement is “to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among elementary and secondary school students.”.
“We are pleased, as sponsors, to celebrate these students who work hard in the classroom and have successfully finished a semester of their freshmen year in high school,” said Ashley Martin, one of three club advisors. “Keeping such a high average in a rigorous academic setting is no easy feat, and we commend these students for that achievement thus far.
“We look forward to working with them in the coming years to assist them in achievement and community involvement.”
Andrew Nipp and Susan Searcy serve as the other club sponsors.
