McKenzie, Tenn.–McKenzie Rotary members assembled Tuesday afternoon at Carroll Lake to examine the results from their District Grant.
President Sandi Roditis was excited, to say the least. “It’s so good to see that our investment with Rotary funds is going to help so many enjoy fishing at Carroll Lake,” she said.
The $4000 grant included $2000 from the local Rotary Club in McKenzie and a matching $2000 that came from the Rotary District Foundation funds. TWRA staff used the funds provided to construct over 100 “fish attractors” to increase the opportunity for people to catch fish in the 100 acre lake.
Nathan Warden, TWRA Fishery Manager, spoke to the Rotarians in their regular meeting at The McKenzie Station Bar and Grill then everyone reassembled at Carroll Lake to examine the finished products.
Warden, who works with other lakes in West Tennessee, spoke highly and with appreciation for the effort of the Rotary Club to create this project. “We have not only local individuals who visit our lake but others from other surrounding states that come and fish here.”
Benches were also built on the handicap accessible fishing pier as well. Staff members were grateful to the Rotary Club for their donation of funds for the project. Carroll Lake was drained a few years back after massive flooding and the flood gates repaired. It is now open to regular fishing. A license is required.
