
Dover, Tenn.–Kevin Hargis has been hired as the new Stewart County High School head boys’ basketball coach.
Coach Hargis was a 2010 SCHS graduate, where he spent all four years as a member of the basketball team, either as a player or manager.
After high school, he went on to Murray State University where he was a manager for four years for their basketball team under Coach Steve Prohm, while current LSU head coach Matt McMahon was also on staff.
During the four years at Murray State, the Racers went 104-29 and won two OVC championships. During those four years, Hargis worked with two NBA players, Isaiah Canaan and Cameron Payne.
After graduating from Murray State in 2015, Coach Hargis came back to SCHS to teach high school math, while becoming the head coach for Stewart County Middle School and an assistant coach at SCHS under Nick Wallace. He has held those positions for the last seven years and seen success at both levels.
