Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dyersburg Police have charged a Dyersburg City School teacher with assault, following an investigation by the department’s criminal investigation division.
Teacher Carey Sanders, 61, of Greenfield, turned himself in to police.
According to the Dyersburg Police press release, on April 18, Sanders attempted to break up a fight between two 14-year-old females inside the school. Sanders was observed on video forcefully throwing one of the juveniles involved to the ground.
Sanders was processed and issued a bond pending Dyersburg City Court action.
Both juveniles involved in the altercation were issued juvenile citations for disorderly conduct, and released pending Dyer County Juvenile Court action.
