
Martin, Tenn.–A graduation ceremony for the 31st session of the Martin Police Department Citizens Police Academy was held Thursday night. The students got to experience classes and hands-on activities that included: Administrative duties, use of force, School Resource Officer program, Communications/911 center, DUI enforcement, drug investigations, K-9 operations, crime scenes/investigations, SRT team/building clearing, firearms training, a moot court proceeding, tour of Weakley County Jail, domestic violence investigations, and traffic stops. Students are chosen through an application process and the students represent a wide diversity of different careers and ages from across the city.
Martin Assistant Police Chief Phillip Fuqua said, “The Martin Police Department has hosted 31 sessions over a 28-year period that has included over 800 citizen students. We are proud of this group and look forward to Session 32 in March of 2023. Congratulations to Session 31!!”
