In a letter to parents, school officials explained: “During the last several years, our program guideline waivers were to follow Covid 19 precautions which allow parents or guardians to come to a summer feeding site and pick up to-go meals without their student(s) being present.   However, those waivers expire June 30, 2022. On July 1, USDA regulations require students to consume their summer meals on site.

“This means a change in our requirements for you as families. From May 31st to June 30th , you may come and pick up your student to-go meals just like the last several years, but beginning July 1st, students must eat the meal on premises.

“We understand this may be an inconvenience to change our schedule mid-way through the summer season, but we’re so happy to be able to serve your students any way that we can!”

Again, the schedule for summer feeding is as follows:

May 31, 2022 – June 30, 2022 – To-go meals available without student being present

July 1, 2022 – July 22, 2022 – The student, aged 18 and under, must consume the meal on site.

No meals served on July 4, 2022.
