Paris, Tenn.–Jackson Webb was the Grand Champion winner at Saturday’s Country Ham Sale at the Henry County Fair.

Jackson is the son of Darren and Cheryl Webb of Mansfield. Jackson’s Country Ham was sold for $1,000 to Leon Rogers.

At Saturday’s, Country Ham 4-H project, over $65,000 was raised for 64 participants.

Fair officials said, “Between the Junior Livestock sale and the Country Ham sale, over $491,000 was raised for the youth of our county. Nowhere else in Tennessee does anything like this.”

It was an awesome week at the fair, they said. “The community showed up and showed out.” As we reported earlier, a total $425,038.15 was raised at the Junior Livestock Sale on Thursday night.

For the project, 4-H members start in April learning about hams at Clifty Farm in Paris. The kids pick out their ham, salt and cure it, prepare a detailed record book. It’s a four to five month process.

At Saturday’s sale, Jackson performed a speech about the history of the country ham.
