Union City, Tenn.–Union City Schools students in grades 3-12 will be dismissed from classes Friday, Sept. 16.
Teachers in those grades will use that time for professional development, examining and breaking down data recently received from several sources including state testing.
UC Schools students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, along with those children in Tiny Tornado Academy, will be in school on Sept. 16.
“Our faculty works extremely hard, and we want them to have ample time to examine the data we’ve received and make any adjustments necessary,” Director of Schools Wes Kennedy said. “We will give our teachers specific instructions of how to break down the information and results in multiple faculty meetings beforehand.
“We will be extensive in our study and, as always, will make the best decisions and alterations of our current curriculum for our students and all Union City Schools stakeholders.”
The unscheduled “off” day will not alter the 2022-23 school calendar.
