Mr. Kenneth E. Byford, Sr., 84, of Buchanan, Tennessee, formerly of Manhattan, Illinois passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023 at AHC – Paris.
Mr. Byford was born Thursday, March 3, 1938, in Monee, Illinois to the late Herbert Byford and the late Laura Weber Byford.
Mr. Byford served eight years in the Navy reserves. He served 25 years at the volunteer fire department in Manhattan, Illinois. He retired from Commonwealth Edison Electric Company with over thirty years of service. He was a former commander and an active member with Amvets Post #45 and was also a prior commander with the state of Tennessee. Ken was also a lifelong member of the American Legion and the NRA.
He married Nancy Goldenstern Byford Saturday, June 14, 1958, and she survives in Buchanan. Ken is also survived by his daughter: Susan Jones and husband David, of Foley, Alabama; son: Kenneth Byford and wife Mary Ellen, of Manhattan, Illinois; grandchildren: Katherine (Kyle) Steele, Kurt Byford and Kevin Byford; great-grandchild: Jack Steele; brother: Daniel Byford and wife Toni; and also by one niece and one nephew.
His memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January7, 2023, at Buchan AMVETS Post #45. Fellowship with the family will follow the service.
