
Martin, Tenn.–A Martin man who was reportedly sitting in a bar parking lot with a bag of cocaine on his possession was arrested on drug charges January 1. Martin Patrolman Sparks was performing foot patrol in the parking lot of Martin bars around 12:32 a.m. when he observed Jackson Whaley, age 21, sitting in a car with a bag containing a white power substance. Sparks said, “I had Mr. Whaley open the door to the vehicle and asked him what he had in his hand and he stated that it was cocaine. Mr. Whaley did state that the cocaine was his. I did take the white powder substance, believed to be schedule II/cocaine into evidence and performeda field test to determine what the substance was. The substance did test positive for cocaine and was takeninto evidence.” The total amount of cocaine seized was 1.73 grams. Whaley was placed under arrest andtransported to the Martin Police Dept. without incident for booking procedures. |
