Milan, Tenn.–A well-known musician and news reporter was found dead along with his wife at their Milan home, the result of an apparent murder-suicide.
Steve Short was 70 and was a familiar face in the local area, having performed at numerous events over the years, including the Tennessee River Jam and Eye Full of Paris.
He performed frequently with Paris Native Scott Myatt, who voiced sorrow at the news of Short’s death.
Short had worked for the Milan Mirror-Exchange for over 40 years, working as reporter and associate editor.
Milan Police Chief Bobby Sellers said the department was asked to make a welfare check at Short’s home and the bodies of Short and his wife, Susan, were found in an upstairs bedroom.
According to the Mirror-Exchange, Short died of multiple gunshots and Mrs. Short died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted sunshot.
