Huntingdon, Tenn.–Do you love Mark Twain? The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center will be the place to be Saturday, February 4 when Lewis Hankins portrays the famed author and commentator.
Dixie Carter Center fans will find this story similar to that of Hal Holbrook, who is best known for his one-man show Mark Twain Tonight!, which Holbrook performed at The Dixie. Holbrook was the husband of Dixie Carter and played a big role in the creation of The Dixie Center.
Dixie officials said, “Obviously, no one will ever manage to attain the level of status that The Dixie’s very own Mr. Holbrook holds as Mark Twain and the audience should be aware that Mr. Lewis does a very different performance and one that is all his own. The audience will be delighted in this evening of fine entertainment and learning more about Mark Twain.”
Tickets are available now for “An Evening with Mark Twain, presented by Lewis Hankins”, set for 7 p.m. February 4 at The Dixie.

For over 25 years, Lewis Hankins has been performing as a River Historian on the Delta Queen Steamboat Company and American Queen Voyages. His depiction of Mark Twain, with his mass of white hair and bushy mustache, will have the audience captivated as they get a glimpse of what it would have been like to have a conversation with this American icon.
In fact, part of the show will include Mr. Hankins fielding questions from the audience, as only Mark Twain could respond. Having been an avid fan of Twain since his childhood, Lewis would admit that he has always been obsessed with the famous writer and rarely a day would go by where he didn’t read or write something about him.
