Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Fire Department is asking everyone to join them for a retirement reception for Captain/Training Officer Paul Holdeman at 11 a.m. on Friday January 13 at Union City Fire Station 1.
Captain Holdeman was hired in 1993 and will officially retire on 16 January 2023. He did leave the department briefly in 1996, but quickly returned and was promoted to his current position in 1999. During his tenure, he has worked for three fire chiefs and has trained over 82 Union City Fire Department personnel.
He holds numerous state certifications and has been active in the West Tennessee Training Officers Association. Paul was instrumental in helping establish the county-wide training program in Obion County, and authored a number of Assistance to Firefighters Grants that were awarded to Union City worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Paul also works for Medical Center EMS in Jackson, and plans to continue doing so after retirement, and even plans to return to school to earn a paramedic license.
Captain Holdeman is the second-generation of a three-generation firefighting family; his son, Josh, currently serves as the Chief of the Obion Fire Department.
