Dover, Tenn.–The Sheriff’s Office works to provide as many opportunities for inmates to help themselves as possible and the sheriff’s office has added another program to its growing list to help inmates.
Sheriff Frankie Gray and new Jail Administrator Sam Mills, working with Stewart County Prevention Coalition Coordinator Melissa Fields, Assistant Coordinator Julie Weber and Program Coordinator Nikki Green put into place the “Hybrid Life Line Project”.
Under this program practically every inmate being housed in the Stewart County Detention Center on drug charges will be evaluated. Inmates who meet the criteria will be screened and counseled for possible placement in a drug rehabilitation facility. If placement is available there is no cost to the inmate. Once placement can be made the treatment program will be presented to the courts for acceptance and approval. Treatment time will normally be a minimum of 6 months with most being a one year program.
Gray said, “Let’s hope the inmates take advantage of this opportunity.”
